I am a product designer who believes that a highly effective product definition requires insight into the intersection of design, business, technology and the user.
My strengths encompass defining product vision, crafting compelling stories and designing seamless, human-centered experiences across complex ecosystems. I enjoy interfacing with clients, internal stakeholders and product teams to bring innovative ideas to life. I fundamentally believe that design can improve people's lives, transform companies and change the culture.
Born in a beautiful and small hilly town in Southern India to a Law professor and a housewife, and currently living in the San Francisco Bay area. After completing my bachelor’s degree in Information Science, I started my career working as a software developer at GE Healthcare. At GE, I found my calling in design which led me to pursue a masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction and to first steps into the design world.
In the past, working as a developer, I argued with the then designers whenever the beautiful designs provided was not feasible to implement. Now, being the designer I am on the other side of the table understanding the developer's pain points and getting my designs implemented. My passion for design and a strong technical background allows me not only to design creative and usable products but also to think through the feasibility of its implementation. A big proponent of the user-centered design process, I believe in designing for users, not for features or technologies!
When not at work, I do photography, shoot travel videos, paint, fly my drone to capture some beautiful landscapes and beaches from the top and bike around in town. And yes, I am sporting aficionado, I play a badminton, table tennis, volleyball, cricket, football, and many other sports!
I believe in 'moving fast' and 'getting it done'.
I believe in ‘making it easy’ and ‘keeping it simple’.
I believe in 'delighting users' and making the 'company successful'.
I believe design 'is iterative' and can 'always be improved'.
I Love to play, travel, relax on the beach, take pictures and shoot travel videos

Raj has proven to be an amazing asset to our team as we worked through our new user experience (UX) for our PeopleVine platform. His guidance and expertise allowed our team to focus on delivering an amazing experience to our users. He is really a true team player and dedicated to achieving success in his work. We'd love to keep him on the team, but seems Chicago is too cold for him :)
In the short time Basavaraj worked with Pursuits as a UX/Design intern, he demonstrated that he is very meticulous in his approach to any problem, and diligent about the solution. His ideas were creative, unique, and innovative. When assigned a problem, he able able to come up with various options, with both pros and cons for that option depending on the audience. He was able to apply what he had learnt in his school (Human Machine Interaction), along with skills he built by keeping himself up-to-date on UX and front-end design trends.
I have had the pleasure of working with Basavraj for more than two years during his stint with GE. Basav is a very dedicated, smart and open-minded colleague with great interpersonal skills. He is the person who is always willing to help. He worked with me for a project where in he had to design and develop a new User Interface for our product, which he did very well. His technical abilities and debugging skills are great and is a very good team player.
